Introduction

Sofina Irina Igorevna  is an English language teacher  with over 7 years of experience teaching at universities. She graduated from the Central Kazakhstan Academy and earned her master’s degree in pedagogy from Tomsk State Pedagogical University. She currently teaches at the Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Her main focus is teaching students of technical majors and developing courses that emphasize professional English. She actively integrates digital tools into her teaching and is always focused on achieving practical results with her students. 

This course provides an overview of current translation technologies, focusing on both machine translation and computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools. It highlights how specialized software can streamline translation tasks, improve consistency, and increase overall efficiency. Students will examine different machine translation types and how they are applied in professional translation environments. Emphasis is placed on popular CAT tools like Trados, MemoQ, and Smartcat, which support terminology management, automation of repetitive content, and coordination of large translation projects. The course aims to prepare students for the demands of a modern, technology-oriented translation industry.
